Happy New Year!
With the new year comes a new version of WordPress – although later than expected, WordPress 5 has been released! All sites hosted on Smashstar Media have been updated and all managed sites will be upgraded by the end of the month (for supported themes). You’ll find the new Gutenberg editor and it’s many content blocks make editing pages and posts easier than ever! Of course, there will be a learning curve, but support is just a call, text, or email away – let me know if you have any questions.
Along with the new update, January brought a new monthly report to our clients. The new Managed WordPress Report will provide better insight into performance, backups, traffic, and even search engine rankings. For anyone who hasn’t requested monthly reports, send me an email to start receiving them (no additional cost!) to have a better understanding of the ongoing maintenance behind your website.
Although winter seems to be kicking into gear, spring will be upon us shortly, which means all sites will have a thorough cleaning. From mid-January to late-February, I’ll be adding a few new plugins to all managed sites to have more control over security and maintenance. As always, this will all be done behind-the-scenes, so you shouldn’t notice any significant changes. Exciting changes will be coming soon to compliment the WordPress update – check back next month for more.
